This project will gather the data necessary to map all of the arts assets at the university in order to understand and demonstrate the depth and breadth of the arts at the university.
Responds to the issue of diversity in museums and arts organizations.
The University Musical Society (UMS), the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD), the U-M College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA), the Grand Rapids Symphony, and The Philadelphia Orchestra will join forces to present the musical Fiddler on the Roof in a new model of partnership and production that brings together both performative and scholarly elements.
This project will examine how history gets made and remade through public art, and it will leverage public artistic practice as a catalyst for imagining a more just future for the State of Michigan.
